Advanced Research Methods: Smoking Behaviour Journal Articles and Dataset (Beard et al., Fa-Binefa et al.)
This study pack supplies two peer-reviewed research articles and a supporting smoking dataset for advanced research methods study. Beard et al. (2017) present a time-series analysis of population trends in England examining the association between smoking and alcohol-related behaviours, using ARIMAX modelling on Alcohol and Smoking Toolkit Studies data. Fa-Binefa et al. provide complementary empirical findings on related behavioural or public-health topics. The Excel dataset (Smoking Data) supplies worked quantitative material for students to practise analysis techniques taught in research methods courses. Together the materials teach statistical modelling of health behaviours, time-series methods, and applied data analysis.
