Flood Risk Analysis and Management: Kendal (Cumbria) Case Study
Hydrology and flood risk management pack built around the Kendal (Cumbria, UK) floods from Storm Desmond (2015/16) and later events. It covers flood estimation of the 1% AEP discharge (at-site and pooled statistical frequency analysis with GEV, unit hydrograph, SHETRAN continuous simulation), non-stationary flood frequency analysis, CityCAT hydrodynamic modelling of fluvial and pluvial flood risk, the 2005 Cumbria floods technical report, insurance and response lessons after Storm Desmond, and the proposed Kendal Flood Risk Management Scheme (linear defences and upstream storage). It includes the coursework brief for a flood estimation and flood risk management strategy report.
