3. 3 Prepare for validation: purpose, scope, communication, and document control Practise the preparation stage by confirming validation purpose, context, and scope, documenting communications, arranging materials, and checking that documents are correct before validation begins. 45 min
4. 4 Map unit requirements to assessment tasks Use the competency mapping approach to check whether performance criteria, performance evidence, knowledge evidence, and assessment conditions are addressed by an assessment tool. 60 min
5. 5 Judge assessment tool quality and identify compliance issues Apply the validation reporting criteria to evaluate clarity of instructions, decision-making rules, benchmarks, and recording mechanisms, then classify issues as minor, moderate, or critical. 60 min
6. 6 Complete validation reports for all three tools Prepare one validation report for each session, including attached documents, summary findings, issue ratings, and at least one improvement suggestion for each tool. 50 min
7. 7 Strengthen communication for validation discussions Prepare for the required discussion with the assessor by focusing on active listening, adequate comprehension, appropriate grammar/vocabulary/pronunciation, and suitable workplace communication modes. 30 min
8. 8 Link Assessment 3 to earlier assessment planning and RPL work Consolidate learning by comparing validation tasks with earlier assessment planning, contextualisation, evidence mapping, and RPL evidence review used in the same cluster. 55 min
