How to Build a 4-Week Exam Revision Plan (That You'll Actually Follow)
A simple week-by-week structure for exam revision: map the syllabus, learn, practise under exam conditions, then polish your weak spots.
A revision plan fails for one of two reasons: it's too vague to act on, or too rigid to survive a bad day. This four-week structure is specific enough to follow and flexible enough to recover from.
Week 1: Map everything
List every topic in the syllabus and rate your confidence from 1 to 3. Gather your notes, slides and past papers in one place. By Friday you should know exactly where your gaps are.
Week 2: Learn the weak topics
Start with the topics you rated 1. For each one, read a summary, then test yourself straight away. Don't move on until you can explain the idea without notes.
Week 3: Practise under exam conditions
Do timed past papers and practice tests. Mark them honestly and write down every question type that caught you out.
| Day | Focus | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Mon | Full timed paper | 2–3 h |
| Tue | Review mistakes, re-learn topics | 90 min |
| Wed | Topic practice questions | 90 min |
| Thu | Flashcard review | 45 min |
| Fri | Second timed paper | 2–3 h |
Week 4: Polish and rest
Short daily recall sessions on your weakest topics, one final mock early in the week, then lighter days before the exam. Sleep is part of the plan.
Missed a day? Don't restart the plan. Move the session to your lightest day and keep going.
MagicalTutor's study plans do this rebalancing for you: set your exam date and hours, and the plan adjusts when you fall behind or get ahead.
